A report from the 2021 Congress of the European Society of Cardiology showed that drinking up to three cups of coffee a day can help decrease the risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease.
Researchers followed up for 10 to 15 years 468,629 participants of the UK Biobank, average age 56 years old, 56% women, with no signs of heart disease.
They found that drinking 0.5 to 3 cups of coffee per day was independently associated with lower risks of pathologies: compared to non-coffee drinkers, light-to-moderate consumption was associated with a 12% lower risk of all-cause death, 17% lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and 21% lower risk of incident stroke.
