Graduated Compression, aka Gradient Compression, means it is most compressed in a specific area and moves to less compression above. In the case of compression garments; they are most compressed at the lowest point of gravity such as the ankles or wrists and move to less compression as it moves up the limb.
This assists with the flow of blood and lymph fluid upwards by mimicking the body’s natural processes and supporting and promoting circulation and lymphatic flow.

Graduated Compression puts pressure on the tissues encouraging fluid movement and preventing build up. It reduces swelling while also providing relief for tissues. It works well to assist broken down venous and lymphatic systems and also provides support for long distance travel, pregnancy and sitting or standing for long periods of time.

Compression garments should always be worn past areas of swelling or potential swelling if possible. The amount of compression you use can be suggested by one of our experts.
