The value of garments in the treatment of Lymphedema can not be overstated enough.  They are what create a new skin adaptation, and create strength, where the consistent swelling of a limb or body area can be weakened.  The art of fitting a garment to each Lymphedema patient, and picking the right piece,  is critical. Trained garment fitters are required to be adept at knowing the intricacies of new and growing inventory from many companies, and learn how to expertly measure and fit them to ever changing bodies.

The delicate nature of handling a vulnerable client is an art form as well.  When a client is issued the diagnosis of this life long condition, it can be extremely psychologically damaging and hurtful. Aside from the diagnosis, there is the knowing that garments are now needed to be worn daily, and potentially for life.   A thoughtful, and caring fitter is essential.
